Six health unions have petitioned the Ministry of Health to oppose the extension of Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah's tenure as CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The unions—Health Service Workers Union, Ghana Federation of Allied Health Professionals (Korle Bu chapter), Health Accounting Staff Association of Ghana, Korle Bu Senior Staff Association, Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association, and Ghana Registered Nursing and Midwives Association—highlight inefficiencies under his leadership, including operational paralysis, delays in essential supplies, and conflicts of interest.
They argue that extending his tenure would jeopardize the hospital’s progress and negatively impact staff and patient welfare.
