Doctors at the Oncology Department of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have ended their strike.
They had stopped consultations on June 24 due to delays in repairing the Linear Accelerator System, crucial for radiotherapy, which broke down in October 2023.
Although fixed, the machine was still non-operational pending the arrival of a water phantom for calibration. Frustrated by the delay, doctors protested, turning away patients. They resumed work on June 26 after receiving assurances from management that their concerns were being addressed.
This resolution was confirmed by KATH’s Public Relations Officer, Kwame Frimpong, in a Citi News interview.
