Korle Bu suspends elective surgeries; relocation of emergency cases

Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has suspended elective surgeries and temporarily relocated emergency cases due to ongoing issues with the lifts at the surgical block.

The malfunctioning lifts have hindered patient transfers within the surgical tower, severely impacting surgical operations.

As a result, all elective surgeries are on hold, and only emergency cases will be handled in specific theatres on the ground floor and other designated wards.

KBTH is working on replacing and refurbishing the lifts, currently in the procurement process, and aims to resolve the issue promptly to restore normal operations.
