No bed syndrome: Korle-Bu opens 65-bed emergency and accident unit

A newly constructed accident and emergency centre has been opened to the public at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, during the inauguration urged staff of the hospital to adopt bed management practices to curb the issue of overcrowding.

He also said the new set of trolleys provided would help prevent the inappropriate transportation of patients to the various wards.

Dr. Agyemang Manu further charged the management, staff and clients of the facility to make a conscious effort to collectively ensure its maintenance.

‘’Government through the ministry of health has provided this facility to tackle the issue of no bed syndrome. This I hope will alleviate the problem as the hospital moves in to expand. Mindful of the possibility of overcrowding at this new emergency centre, it is important to adopt new bed management practices to curb the situation’’. He said
