Oda hospital records one suspected Ebola case

The Akim Oda Government Hospital recorded one suspected Ebola case, which proved negative when blood samples from the patient was taken to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for investigations.

Ms Anasciasia Atiogbe, Birim Central District Director of Health Services who disclosed this to the GNA Media Auditing and Tracking of Development projects team at Akim Oda said, the patient affected has recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.

The GNA STAR-Ghana Media Auditing and Tracking of Development project was initiated to promote participatory democracy and the development of the districts and communities in the country.

She said her outfit had organized a programme to brief heads of department of the Municipal Assembly on the prevention of diseases such as Ebola, Cholera and Rabies.

Ms Atiogbe said similar workshops had been organised for staff of the Akim Oda Government Hospital, Jubilee Community Hospital, staff and students of Akim Oda Community Health Training School and all health personnel of the various Sub-Municipal Health staff.

She said the health staffs have been orientated on how to handle cases of Ebola, Cholera and Rabies and how to protect themselves against infections.

Ms Atiogbe said the major concern however was the lack of sufficient protective clothing.
