Renal Patients Association of Ghana commend NHIS’s free 6-month dialysis initiative

The Renal Patients Association of Ghana has praised the NHIS for its six-month free dialysis program, calling it a commendable initiative that will save lives, particularly for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.

However, they stress the need for a long-term solution, emphasizing that the funding for the program, at GH₵2 million, is limited.

NHIA's CEO, Dr. Aboagye Da-Costa, assures that the government is exploring sustainable funding methods for chronic disease treatment beyond the program's duration, reflecting on the NHIA's 20th-anniversary initiative's compassionate intent and potential long-term impact.
