The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) is bound to produce quality health practitioners for Ghana.

According to him "I have no doubt that this University is going to be responsible for the producing of very very high quality medical and scientific personnel for our country."

He said this on Friday, September 10, 2021, when he went to UHAS in Ho to cut sod for the construction of a sixty-eight million US dollars China Aid phase two of the school.

The President added, "Even though it is a young University, already, it is receiving lots of laurels and accolades and rankings, therefore, there is the need for the Government to ensure the infrastructure is at the measure of the University."

The University is a China Aid project and the only fully-fledged university dedicated to health and sciences in the country, currently, UHAS runs twenty undergraduate and six postgraduate programmes.

Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Lu Kun also speaking during the ceremony mentioned that phase two consisted of Administration block, College of Nursing and Midwifery, facility for storage of equipment, and provision for supporting facilities.

Mr. Lu Kun said "We believe after the project is being completed, the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho will become one of the most beautiful and advanced university in Ghana. In the future, there will be more students that will graduate from this university and will become medical doctors, nurses and other health workers for agenda 111."

He emphasised the need for Ghana to strengthen its ties with the Government and People of China.
