2013-09-24Edward Jones wins Ghana’s first ever Judo medal
Edward Jones last week delivered Ghana’s first ever judo medal at the just ended Kodokan Asian Judo Grand Masters Championship, which was held in Tokyo, Japan.
Jones who is domiciled in Japan defied all the odds to put up a sterling performance to romp home with the bronze medal in the 100kg weight division.

He told Ghanaweb that his recent exploit and unparallel achievement came through hard work and dedication. “I also want to put it on record here that this feat has made me the first ever Ghanaian to join the grand master weight and won a medal,” Jones said.
Jones who currently work as a director in a restaurant- in one of the hospitality companies in Japan, believe that with extra financial and moral support, he can improve upon his performance in future events.
Edward Jones was born in Ghana and formerly with the Ghana Custom Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS). He graduated from TOKAI University in Japan in 1995.
