Seventeen Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (MMAs) in Greater Accra have received over GHS 8 million to enhance drainage infrastructure under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project.
This followed a disbursement of GH¢10.9 million in 2022 and 2023. The funds aim to improve drainage and solid waste management along the Odaw River.
GARID Project Coordinator, Dr. Ohene Sarfoh, noted that future grants will be performance-based.
The project, supported by a World Bank credit, targets drainage and infrastructure improvements in flood-prone areas.
Beneficiaries included Accra Metropolitan Assembly and various municipal assemblies in Greater Accra.
