Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Afenyo Markin has said the NDC may lose 25% more votes during the 2020 polls because a majority of their members are of the belief that the party has boycotted the compilation of a new voters’ register.
The opposition National Democratic Congress is in court questioning why the Electoral Commission says only Ghana card and a passport will be used for identification during the compilation of the new voters’ register.
The NDC at the last sitting in court withdrew their case against the compilation of the new voters register.
But speaking on Accra-based OKAY FM and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the lawmaker said it’s imperative that the NDC gets to work to whip up the interest in the compilation of a new voters’ register of their members.
Afenyo Markin noted that the leader and flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama confirmed that the country needs new voters’ register since he does not want flawed election results.
The private legal practitioner observed that the noise made by the NDC is as a result of the fact that they[NDC] know they will lose woefully adding that “even if they drink all the water in the Akosombo dam, they will not win the 2020 elections in Ghana”.
