Founder and leader of the All People's Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has announced his decision to run for president when nominations open for the 2020 general elections.
The former presidential aspirant is making a comeback after the Electoral Commission disqualified him in 2016 over failure to sort out some information regarding his nomination forms ahead of the December 2016 elections.
However, Dr Ayariga has broken the long silence on whether or not he intends to contest for the top executive job in 2020 as he told Blessed Sogah, host of Class FM's political programme, State of the Nation, that he intends to contest again.
Dr Ayariga says his decision to join the race was due to the failure of the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration who have failed to deliver on their campaign promises to the people of Ghana.
Dr. Ayariga is expected to announce his decision officially in the final week of September 2019.
The presidential hopeful also added that Ghanaians were fed up with the duopoly of the governing NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
