Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, Executive Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2023 African Games, has clarified that $2.9 million—not $4.5 million—was spent on the Games Management System, countering claims made by MP Kobena Mensah Woyome.
The LOC explained that the system, implemented by ATOS, included services like TV graphics, sports entry, and game results.
Ofosu-Asare emphasized that accreditation tags were only a small part of the overall system.
The Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, is set to provide a detailed breakdown of the event's expenses to Parliament.
The Games, held from March 8-23, 2024, saw Ghana win 69 medals.
