Any contract requiring gov’t resources for more than a year needs parliamentary approval -Lawyer

Private legal practitioner Richmond Rockson has emphasized that contracts requiring government financial commitment beyond a year must undergo parliamentary approval, citing the Public Financial Management Act.

This follows the Minority's call for parliamentary approval of all government transactions, which the Majority criticized as unnecessary.

The Minority has raised concerns about unilateral government contracts, including the 5G service deal with NextGen InfranCo, arguing that some require parliamentary approval.

However, the Majority Leader disagrees, stating that these deals comply with constitutional provisions and do not need parliamentary approval, to avoid obstructing government business and scaring away investors.
