Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, has proposed allocating 3% of Ghana's GDP—approximately GH¢30 billion—to support the private sector, aiming to alleviate fiscal pressures on the government.
This initiative seeks to engage the private sector in delivering various services, enabling a public-private partnership (PPP) model for infrastructure projects.
By incentivizing the private sector to finance construction and maintenance, Bawumia envisions completing more projects efficiently. He also advocates for a
"Buy Ghana First" policy to prioritize local production and reduce unemployment. This approach represents a significant shift in budget management and economic strategy.
