Isaac Adongo, the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament, has criticized NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his campaign pledge to make smartphones affordable for the youth if elected president.

Bawumia proposed collaborating with manufacturers to provide phones on credit.

Adongo, during a parliamentary session, argued that this pledge highlights the government's lack of strategic foresight, stating that offering smartphones on credit does not address the rising unemployment rate, which has increased from 8% to 14%.

He accused the government of creating unemployment to exploit the youth for electoral purposes.
