Deal with galamsey, not innocent protesters – Naana Opoku-Agyeman

NDC running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, has condemned the arrest of anti-galamsey protesters and called for their immediate release.

She criticized authorities for targeting demonstrators instead of fighting illegal mining activities.

Her statement, issued on September 26, highlighted reports of police maltreatment, including the remand of 40 protesters, one of whom is pregnant.

Prof. Opoku-Agyeman questioned why illegal miners are free while citizens advocating for environmental protection are arrested.

She urged the government to stop persecuting the protesters and show true commitment to combating illegal mining.
