Don’t promise what you cannot do – Hawa Koomson tells Mahama

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has urged NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to avoid politicizing the closed fishing season for canoe and artisanal fisherfolk.

She emphasized that the fishing community won't benefit if the policy is politicized.

Mahama recently promised to exempt artisanal fishermen from the closed season if elected.

However, Hawa Koomson argued this is unfeasible, noting the policy's legal basis was established by the NDC in 2016 and must continue. She advised Mahama to refrain from making unrealistic promises to the fishermen, highlighting the policy's necessity and legality.
