Japhet Aryiku, Executive Director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Museum Foundation, has addressed claims that the Ghanaian government sold or leased the Du Bois Centre to the foundation.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa had criticized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration for allegedly transferring control to the foundation.
Aryiku clarified that the arrangement is a collaborative partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, not a sale or lease.
The agreement, which lasts for an initial 30 years with a possible extension of 20 years, involves the foundation developing and managing the centre.
Aryiku emphasized that if the partnership ends, the government owes nothing, and the foundation will forfeit its investment.
