During a press briefing, Communications and Digitalisation Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful experienced an unexpected power outage while discussing the rollout of affordable 5G services in Ghana.
The contract for this rollout, awarded to Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC), had raised suspicions due to the company's establishment just one week prior.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful explained that NGIC was specifically created for the 5G project, as no existing infrastructure company could handle it.
The outage lasted five minutes, highlighting ongoing power supply issues.
Public dissatisfaction with frequent power cuts has led to planned demonstrations, including a protest by actress Yvonne Nelson and a recent demonstration in Kumasi demanding a load-shedding timetable.
