EC Chair's appointment not based on her qualifications - Wontumi

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as ‘Chairman Wontumi’ says the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, is working not based on her qualification or experience but by the favour given to her by members of the NDC.

“This favor was given to her by the Mahama-led administration because they know she is the only person who would always cover the party in matters relating the elections,” he said.

He indicated in an interview on OKAY FM that “Charlotte Osei under the influence of President John Dramani Mahama has decided to rubbish and not act in accordance with all instructions given to her by courts and other relevant organizations equipped with electoral proceedings to obtain a successful election come 7th November.”

To him, it is unfortunate that in this country, the current government is often heard talking on behalf of the EC just because their laws and processes are now determined by government when they claim their dealings are independently handled by their outfit alone.

He added that if the EC boss is not well checked, her policies and procedures will lead this country to war, but as a political party, the NPP would not sit quietly for this to happen as we have only one country, which is Ghana.

“I am on a search to find the biological country which Charlotte Osei comes from because I do not believe a Ghanaian of her caliber would ever react the way she does to lead this country into danger,” he said on 'Ade Akye Nsroma.'
