The Paramount Chief of Nandom Traditional Area, Naa Puo-Ure Puobekyiir VII, has thrown his weight behind the candidature of President John Mahama as he bids for a second term in office.

Naa Puobekyiir VII, who is also a former president of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, stated among other things that "we are very grateful to the government of the NDC for giving us this District.”

“I have lived in Europe for 20 years. And as I keep saying when a government is doing well you must retain that government. We are praying that the government of President Mahama will be retained,” he declared when the Chief of Staff Mr Julius Debrah and the General Secretary of the NDC Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called on him to campaign for Mahama and the ruling NDC's candidate for Nandom, Dr Richard Kuunre.

Observing the good works of the government of Mahama, the Paramount Chief noted: “We are also grateful that Ko Polyclinic has been upgraded. I was surprised to also learn that the government has started preparing to work on the Kamba Irrigation Project.”

He therefore said he sees no reason why the Mahama government should be changed, especially when there are a lot of progress at other sectors.

It would be recalled that the Chief of Staff Mr Debrah, on Tuesday, asserted at the Palace of the Wa Naa that the destiny of a nation is not necessarily about trial and error.

Therefore, “once the system of a nation is working we must keep it going to bring about the change we desire.”

He noted that countries like Malaysia, China and others in Asia have achieved progress not because they changed governments by trial, but because they kept governments that were working.
