The Director-General of the National Roads Authority (NRA), James Amoo-Gottfried, has clarified the increased cost of Accra’s Flowerpot Interchange, attributing it to a significant expansion in the project’s scope.

Initially planned for GH¢69.5 million under the NDC in 2016, the project has escalated to nearly GH¢1 billion under the current administration.

The changes include extending the bridge length from 120 meters to 1,022 meters.

This comes amid Minority MPs’ demands for transparency on the cost revisions.

Commissioned by President Nana Akufo-Addo, the interchange aims to ease traffic along Spintex Road and the Tema Motorway, despite ongoing concerns about congestion.
