Franklin Cudjoe, founder and President of IMANI Africa, has criticized the government's decision to retain the COVID-19 levy despite calls from the business community for its repeal.
The government argues the levy is necessary to address the lingering financial impacts of the pandemic.
Abena Osei-Asare, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, emphasized that despite the reduced threat of COVID-19, financial repercussions continue.
In an interview on Channel One TV, Cudjoe highlighted the burden of taxes on Ghanaians and urged the government to scrap the levy, questioning the lack of infrastructure development despite high taxation and calling for greater private sector involvement in development efforts.
