Free SHS: Govt does not owe companies, individuals GH₵6bn – Education Ministry

The Ministry of Education has refuted claims by the Minority in Parliament that the government owes over six billion Ghana Cedis related to the Free Senior High School policy.

The Minority alleged unpaid amounts, including over GH₵300 million for the "One Student, One Laptop" initiative and GH₵224 million owed to the West African Examinations Council.

Education Ministry spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng dismissed these claims as inaccurate, noting that the ministry's records do not reflect such debts.

He emphasized that payments for the tablet initiative are made in phases, based on performance, and urged for more clarification from the Minority.
