Free SHS bill targeted at NDC, other critics – UCC professor

Professor George Kweku Toku Oduro believed the government's decision to introduce a Free Senior High School bill is a political strategy to counter calls for a review of the policy.

He claimed the bill has no legitimate basis and is meant to create an impression that the opposition party, NDC, intends to cancel the policy if they come to power.

Education think-tank Africa Education Watch also questions the rationale behind the move, stating that the policy already has legal backing and does not require another law.

They suggested that the government should focus on improving the policy by addressing its challenges.
