Free SHS never compromised quality of education – NAPO

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, running mate for Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP), has defended the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, claiming it has not compromised educational quality.

Speaking at the University of Memphis, he noted significant improvements in access and academic performance since its launch in 2017.

Dr. Prempeh highlighted that over 60% of students achieved qualification grades in core subjects for tertiary education, with recent results being the best in nine years.

He emphasized the initiative’s equity measures, ensuring underprivileged students can attend top schools, thereby fostering a more skilled workforce for Ghana's future.
