GJA cautions media houses against declaring final election results

Linda Asante Agyei, Vice President of the Ghana Journalists Association, has urged media houses to avoid declaring final results in the 2024 elections, emphasizing that only the Electoral Commission (EC) has this authority.

Speaking at the launch of an SDG facility project by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development and the Danish Embassy, Agyei stressed the importance of responsible reporting to prevent conflicts from inaccurate information.

She highlighted the need for collaboration with the EC, noting that media should only present provisional results until certified by the EC.

The SDG project also aims to enhance climate reporting and combat disinformation using AI tools.
