Galamsey fight has been difficult because it is a lucrative venture – Richard Ahiagbah

NPP Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah has refuted claims that the government lacks commitment to combating illegal mining (galamsey).

Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile, Ahiagbah attributed the persistence of galamsey to its lucrative nature, despite government policies aimed at curbing it.

He emphasized President Akufo-Addo's unwavering dedication to the fight, citing global environmental concerns and the long-standing presence of small-scale mining in Ghana.

Ahiagbah reiterated the government's efforts and blamed the surge in illegal mining on greed and personal interests rather than a lack of governmental resolve.
