Former Speaker Prof. Mike Oquaye has credited the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the human rights protections Ghanaians enjoy today, contrasting it with the period under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, when he claims there was limited regard for human rights.
Speaking at a mentorship event organized by the NPP Council of Elders, Oquaye emphasized the role of the late President Edward Akufo-Addo in introducing a human rights chapter in the 1969 constitution.
NPP Flagbearer Dr. Bawumia urged members to uphold the party's values, blending historical achievements with a commitment to democracy and economic development for the future.
