Gov’t releases GH¢20 million for the payment of student loans

The Ministry of Finance has released GH¢20 million for student loan disbursements, managed by the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), to assist approximately 10,243 students in private and public tertiary institutions.

This adds to the GH¢58 million already distributed to 54,658 students for the 2023/24 academic year, and GH¢27 million allocated as allowances to 68,000 teacher trainees.

Each beneficiary will receive between GH¢1,500 and GH¢3,000, depending on their needs, enabling them to register for exams.

The 'No Guarantor Policy' introduced two years ago has led to a significant increase in demand for student loans.
