Interlocutory injunction not grounds for disqualification – Samson Anyenini on EC’s flawed decision

A private legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has claimed that the Electoral Commission (EC) improperly disqualified Joana Cudjoe, the NDC's Amenfi Central parliamentary candidate, based on an interlocutory injunction.

He argued that such injunctions are temporary and cannot serve as a valid reason for disqualification without a final court ruling.

Anyenini pointed out that the election in question was annulled and a new one was held in September 2024, which the EC supervised, declaring Cudjoe elected.

He criticized the EC's decision as legally flawed and warned that if the injunction is lifted, the disqualification could be rendered baseless.
