North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has condemned the apparent regional bias in selecting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's running mate for the NPP.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile, he urged a focus on competence over regional or ethnic considerations, warning that this bias could undermine Ghana's democratic progress.
"This regionalism, ethnicism, and tribalism... I pray for the day that all these things won't matter," he stated.
A recent NIB survey showed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the preferred choice among NPP delegates, with 76.2% support, though Dr. Bawumia has yet to announce his decision.
