Joyce Bawa-Mogtari, a Special Aide for former President John Mahama, has stated that a future Mahama government would consider granting amnesty to alleged illegal miners in jail and some convicted miners.
She accused the current government of allowing foreign nationals and government officials involved in illegal mining to go free while Ghanaians suffer.
Bawa-Mogtari stressed the importance of a just legal process and investigation into cases where people have been imprisoned without a fair trial.
She also outlined plans for the NDC to invest $500 million in combating illegal mining, focusing on research and modern technology to address the issue effectively.
