More Supreme Court Justices constitutional, would ensure effective justice – AG to Akufo-Addo

The Attorney-General has confirmed that the proposal to increase the number of Supreme Court justices is in line with the Constitution and would enhance efficient justice delivery.

The Chief Justice emphasized the need for expanding the Supreme Court bench due to the workload and the court's ability to serve the nation's justice needs.

The AG advised the President that increasing the number of justices to twenty would expedite justice, minimize delays, and contribute to efficient court administration.

He also mentioned the need to consider the financial implications of appointing additional justices. Additionally, he highlighted the substantial increase in case backlogs as justification for expanding the number of justices.
