Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Stephen Amoah has clarified that his comments on the cedi’s depreciation being a "ritual problem" were taken out of context.
He criticized some media for misquoting him, creating misleading stories. In an interview on Citi FM's Citi Breakfast Show, Dr. Amoah emphasized that the cedi’s depreciation is a national issue due to Ghana's import-driven economy, not the fault of any single government.
He proposed a long-term framework to address the issue if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is elected president.
Dr. Amoah stressed the need for both short-term and long-term solutions to stabilize the cedi.
