NAPO to be officially outdoored as Bawumia’s running mate in Kumasi today

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, will be officially unveiled as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, on July 9 in Kumasi.

The NPP's National Council endorsed NAPO on July 5, with support from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. NAPO expressed gratitude and pledged commitment to the campaign.

The party has defended NAPO against criticisms of arrogance, suggesting he use prepared scripts. With NAPO's new role, the Manhyia South Parliamentary seat is vacant, and his brother, Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, may contest for it.

The 2024 elections will see the NPP's Bawumia-NAPO team against the NDC's Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang ticket.
