NDC is on a rescue mission to save Ghanaians - Fred Agbenyo

The former Deputy National Communications Officer of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo, says Ghana is teetering on the edge of the abyss of a total developmental wipeout under the Akufo-Addo government.

He is of the strong view that President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government have failed Ghanaians woefully, and cannot develop the country.

According to him, anytime the NPP was in power, they eventually derail the development agenda to irritate Ghanaians into going back to a leftist party.

According to Mr Fred Agbenyo, “this country is heading towards the wrong direction under NPP and President Nana Akufo-Addo”.

“However, the level of development of Ghana at the moment does not fit the ideal conditions for such a trickle-down effect to happen.

He said Ghana’s international reserves and import cover always looked better when the NDC was in power and depreciated when the NPP was in power.

“When they were in opposition and we were in power, they complained about us borrowing. Today, after just two years in office, of course, they have borrowed ten times more than we borrowed in eight years.

According to him, the reason the NPP had failed to advance the development of Ghana anytime they were in power is that the party’s political philosophy did not respond to the needs of the country.

Background

The 2020 National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated his party’s manifesto committee with a charge to help rescue Ghanaians from the Akufo-Addo government.

Describing the government as a sinking ship, President Akufo-Addo’s main political rival said the opposition NDC also feels the suffering of ordinary Ghanaians.

Former President John Mahama, who lost power in the 2016 polls after one-term, said he has learned some “useful lessons” since his exit and has also been gathering “effective feedback” from stakeholders.
