Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC has descended heavily on the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for bashing government over the increment in Communication Service Tax.

He asked Ghanaians to be wary of deceitful sweet tongue of the NDC.

Government has announced an increment in the communication service tax from 6 per cent to 9 per cent.

The Communication Service Tax (CST) was previously set for 6%, however, it was raised to 9% during the presentation of the 2019 Mid-year Budget Review by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

Hon. Ofori-Atta, announced this in Parliament on Monday, indicating the increment is aimed at creating a viable technology ecosystem to among other things identify and combat cybercrime.

The NDC lashing out at the government, described President Akufo-Addo as insensitive following the increment.

Reacting to the comments by the opposition party Peace FM panel discussion “Kokrokoo”, Abronye DC censured the NDC saying "when it comes to nuisance tax increment, NDC has no classmate in the country".

He admonished the opposition party to stop pretending to have the well-being of Ghanaians at heart.

“NDC in 2008 promised to abolish 2% Communication Service Tax...because of their sweet manifesto which was sweeter than the Bible, they won the election and later increased the Communication Service Tax from 2% to 6%...The fact that we are shifting from taxation to production doesn’t mean that we should not take tax from Ghanaians but at the end of the day what we received from the people must be used for its benefits,” he said.
