Former Sports Minister and Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has said the main opposition will not tolerate any reckless attitude from the hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service.

This follows the decision by the police to obtain a court warrant for the arrest of the NDC Chairman.

The police had resorted to bringing in the NDC big wig with the warrant following his refusal to honour their invitation last week.

Police want Mr Ofosu Ampofo to answer questions relating to comments by a voice on a leaked audio recording alleged to be his.

The voice on the leaked tape among other things allegedly charged members to attack the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah and the Chairman of the Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante.

He believes the Police Service is hiding under the carpet of the ruling New Patriotic Party just to intimidate members of the largest opposition party NDC ahead of the 2020 elections.

“We will never give them the chance to dictate to us . . . if Ghana Police refuse to act per their laws then they should as well get ready to invite into their custody one NDC member every day because we will not tolerate any nonsense as a party,” he stressed.

“Members of the party in power must know by now that their frequent intimidations can never move us from our aim, rather it strengthens us to keep going towards our aspire,” he told UTV monitored by Kingdomfmonline.com

Nii Lante Vanderpuye fumed at the ‘Rambo-style’ of the arrest of the NDC Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who ought to have been involved in the alleged kidnapping.
