NPP’s National Council to decide Opoku Prempeh’s fate as Bawumia’s running mate today

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will meet today, July 4, to discuss Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's choice of running mate for the December 7 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia is expected to propose Energy Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and justify his selection.

The NEC, the party's second highest decision-making body, must approve or reject the nomination per party rules.

Dr. Prempeh, formerly the Education Minister during the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy, is seen as a strategic choice to bolster the party's campaign.
