Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a key NPP figure, has challenged the belief that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was Ghana's sole founder, emphasizing that the independence struggle involved many, including J.B. Danquah and Paa Grant.
In an interview, Otchere-Darko acknowledged Nkrumah's significant role but argued that independence was a collective effort predating Nkrumah's involvement.
He criticized the tendency to credit Nkrumah alone, suggesting that those who believe so are entitled to their views, while others, like himself, will continue to recognize Nkrumah's contributions without labeling him the sole founder.
His comments align with President Akufo-Addo's recent stance against the single-founder narrative.
