The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the New Juaben South constituency on the ticket of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah, has served notice to the party’s leadership of a “possible tampering of the constituency album” ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary primaries.

In a letter dated 12 June 2020, the MP indicated that there had been “an attempt to tamper with the constituency album that will be used for the impending parliamentary primaries.”

According to him, as contained in the 2020 parliamentary nomination forms, “the photo album/register which was used to elect the Constituency Executives in February 2018, shall be the same album which shall be made available to the NPVC and the Electoral Commission of Ghana for the conduct of the parliamentary primaries.”

This, he said, has caused “the current unease that is beginning to sweep through the constituency” and called for swift action to be taken to rectify the situation.

He added that: “As a candidate in the upcoming election, I have a major interest and therefore implore you to use your good office to ensure that the sanctity of the constituency album that was used in the February 2018 election of constituency executives is preserved, and indeed same is used in the upcoming election.”

“It will be prudent to act as swiftly as possible in this matter to help stem the current unease that is beginning to sweep through the constituency,” he stated.
