The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has revealed that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has not decided to sell 60% of its shares in four hotels.
TUC’s Secretary-General, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, emphasized that while SSNIT is considering proposals, the union insists on canceling the deal for broader consultations.
The controversy arose when Rock City Hotel won a bid for the shares, prompting criticism and a petition by MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The TUC pledged to work with SSNIT to secure workers' investments, demanding more control over SSNIT decisions and opposing the government's influence in appointing the board.
