Stop playing ‘petty’ politics with galamsey; put Ghana first! – NAPO to Mahama

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, has criticized John Mahama for allegedly politicizing illegal mining (galamsey) for personal gain.

He pointed out Mahama’s inconsistent stance on the issue, from promising amnesty to illegal miners in 2020 to now threatening arrests.

Dr. Prempeh reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to fighting galamsey responsibly, including plans to establish a Minerals Development Bank and a pension scheme for small-scale miners.

He urged the NDC to join the NPP in signing a national agreement to promote responsible mining and protect Ghana's environment.
