Ghana’s outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo is facing backlash after unveiling a statue of himself outside Sekondi’s Effia-Nkwanta Hospital.
The statue, meant to honor his achievements, has been labeled by critics as "self-glorification," with some calling for its removal once he leaves office in January.
Opposition MP Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah said the Western Region deserves more practical improvements.
Supporters, however, view it as a fitting tribute to Akufo-Addo’s contributions, especially his free education policy.
The statue unveiling was part of Akufo-Addo’s farewell tour, during which he endorsed Vice President Bawumia for the upcoming election.
