Alexander Afenyo-Markin has announced an indefinite boycott of Parliament after Speaker Alban Bagbin declared four MPs' seats vacant.

The affected MPs, from the NPP, plan to run as independent candidates or switch to the NPP ticket for the 2024 elections.

Bagbin ruled that this decision vacated their seats, shifting the balance of power in Parliament to the NDC, now with 136 seats, against the NPP's 135.

Afenyo-Markin accused Bagbin of favoring the NDC and has filed a legal challenge with the Supreme Court, vowing to boycott Parliament until the issue is resolved.
