We’ll petition Bawumia, Mahama to openly denounce ‘galamsey’ – Ken Ashigbey

The Media Coalition Against Galamsey plans to petition the two leading presidential candidates, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (NPP) and John Dramani Mahama (NDC), to publicly condemn illegal mining, known as galamsey.

Convener Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey clarified that the coalition is not calling for a ban on all mining but for a state of emergency and strict enforcement of mining laws to protect the environment.

The coalition also urges the candidates to support the revocation of permits for mining in forest reserves to address the environmental crisis.
