The Accra West region Power Queens club of the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd. (ECG) has donated assorted items worth over five thousand Ghana Cedis to the Kokrobite health centre. The donation was part of activities to mark the 2021 annual Queens week celebrations.

The 2021-week celebration was under the theme, “ensuring a financially sustainable and customer-focused ECG, the role of the power queen”.

Presenting the items, the President of the Accra West region Power Queens club, Mrs Regina Bentil revealed that as a socially responsible group, the Queens club annually offers support to vulnerable institutions and groups within the region.

“The COVID-19 global health pandemic brought untold hardships on several institutions especially health care facilities, and so our aim this year was to support a healthcare facility to provide quality care to its patients”, she said.

Items donated include a fridge, washing machine, toiletries, disposable nose masks and hand sanitisers.

The senior physician assistant in charge at the Kokrobite health centre, Jerry Nunoo expressed the institution's appreciation for the Club’s gesture saying, “You presented the items at the right time and they will improve the quality of service delivery at the health centre”. Mr Nunoo assured that the items will be put to their intended use for the benefit of the facility’s patients.

Other activities for the power queen’s week celebrations included presentations and symposia for members of the club, visits and interactions with some Special load Tariff customers of the ECG, and quiz competitions.
