Estelle Akofio-Sowah wins Women in Technology Award, GITTA 2021

West Africa Regional Manager of Wholesale Infrastructure Company, CSquared, Estelle Akofio-Sowah, was recently the recipient of the Women in Technology Award at the 2021 Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards.

The award recognizes her strong leadership, business acumen, and innovative approach in driving the use of the internet and technology in Ghana.

On the same night, CSquared also won Wholesale Infrastructure Provider of the Year.

CSquared, also operating in Liberia, Uganda, Kenya, and Mauritius, provides open access fiber and Wi-Fi networks to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in a wholesale model, with the mission of providing abundant access for all through Wholesale Shared networks.

Estelle, a veteran in the technology space, has over 18 years of experience in the internet and business development sector on the Continent, including being the Managing Director of BusyInternet, Africa’s hugely successful internet startup, and being the Country Lead for Google’s operations in Ghana.

Highlights of her leadership include launching an award-winning ISP, implementing the Ghana chapter of the World Bank Incubator program, and launching various products and programs aimed at making the internet an integral part of people’s lives. Estelle’s motto is Prayer, Perseverance, and Patience.

Estelle and CSquared’s recognition comes in the wake of COVID-19, a global pandemic that has highlighted the strong need for reliable, accessible internet facilities. Over the last 12 months, businesses both local and global have relied heavily on internet services to continue serving consumers and clients.

CSquared’s open-access broadband network supported many Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to deliver uninterrupted internet service.

Estelle Akofio-Sowah and CSquared are committed to seeing Ghana continue to accelerate progress in increasing internet penetration and adoption and giving Ghanaians the opportunity to reach a global community.
