GLICO grabs top awards

One of Ghana’s leading insurance companies GLICO Group has swept three top awards in a prestigious Awards ceremony -2021 Ghana Insurance Awards in Accra a few days ago.

Having won multiple awards locally and internationally, GLICO Group, proved superior in three different categories of its subsidiaries-GLICO General, GLICO Life and GLICO Healthcare.

They demonstrated gross brilliance in the year under review which attracted the attention of the organizers-Ghana Insurance Awards and as a result adjudged Mr Andrew Achampong-Kyei (Esq), Managing Director, GLICO General as the CEO of the Year, General Insurance Category.


The corporate lawyer, who became the Managing Director of GLICO General in 2018, before his appointment, was the Company Secretary and Head of Legal & Special Risk for GLICO Group.

And after taking over as Managing Director of GLICO General, the company has undoubtedly progressed to become one of the top four (4) private non-Life Insurance companies in Ghana.


GLICO General continued its growth trajectory by reporting year-on-year growth in key financial metrics.

And also for the first time ever in 2020, GLICO General crossed the GHC 1 million mark which moved it from 5th position to 4th position, courtesy of Andrew’s boldness and resoluteness as a leader who is not afraid to take risks.

Today, GLICO General can boast of an elaborate portfolio of businesses as well as the effective management of high-risk non-life insurance policies such as bonds and engineering policies.


GLICO healthcare has touched many lives through several donations to health facilities in the country, making its health wing-GLICO Healthcare emerge tops in the 'Product Innovation Award category' (Private Health Category).


The Life Insurance company, GLICO Life extended its dominance to the Personal Lines Insurer category and was as a result awarded with the 'Personal Lines Insurer of the Year award.


Its exceptional innovation in Mobile Pharmacy which is an example of GLICO's healthcare policy is a medicine delivery solution in collaboration with key pharmacies nationwide.

The well-organized event themed ‘Rewarding standards in the Insurance Industry’ sought to reward companies doing exploits in the insurance industry.

GLICO Group’s acting Head, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Ms Kukua Apprey stated after the event “We are excited for these honours, it is a testament of what we have done in the year under review.
